Brittany Brazil

My name is Brittany Brazil. I’m 18 years old and graduated from Mira Loma high school where I attended art and woodshop classes. I’m most interested in surrealism and am oft inspired by auditory components which I tend to manifest in the physical form such as to be observed visually. My art is recognizable by some of the more pronounced themes which aren’t deemed unusual when seen individually, but when combined in its relative amounts based on emotion and more rarely based on reason, the themes of pattern and repetition among lines and contrast among colors have had the most impact for me. I built two guitars and modified one during my upper class years of high school. These projects particularly had a grip on me because they not only had the rubrical element of creating something to function, but also the imaginative aspect of narrowing down but not of limiting infinity and catching a glimpse in the vagueness to create something tangible that simultaneously touches the soul. I believe some of my pieces are more successful than others in doing this. I’ve done art on these guitars specifically by utilizing Sharpie and auto paint to detail the first, and by woodburning the sequential two. I received the award and title of first place in recognition of the second completed “Warlock” style guitar entered in competition among other young artists at the Sacramento Board of Education. For the first two completed guitars I have been awarded for first place, second place, best of class, and best of show while on display at the California State Fair as demonstrated by this excerpt from www.Sacrag.com where the Warlock guitar is subjected.

“Judges were falling over themselves over Sacramentan Brittany Brazil’s guitars. They deemed this one to be the best and she walked away with the Best of Show accolades for youth in the Craft and Hobbies category. Get close up to this and the detail in her wood burning is amazing. Beyond the realism in the faces, you start to notice the background patterns, the cherubs and the motion. The guitar head is also a work of art, but is almost overlooked as the intricacy of the body is hypnotic. Tony Iommi would be lucky to have a guitar so beautiful.”

My most recent woodburned guitar has been vocalized by Charlie Thomas in his blog for Sacramento’s classic rock station, 96.9 the Eagle http://blogs.eagle969.com/charliet/2009/10/22/woodshop-rocks/. My hopes as an artist are to pursue a career in creating and detailing instruments that are functional as well as aesthetic. I gladly welcome commission work from the appreciative. My work can be seen on this profile, www.woodshoprocks.com, as well as my Facebook profile. I can be reached through email brazil91@live.com and phone (916) 862-0253. Thank you very much for reading and enjoy the art!
