Tj Lev

Sacramento native, I live in downtown Sacramento in a big 1920’s house with my musician husband. I have two very wonderful grown children, 1 dogs, 1 grand-dogger, cats, and our cockatiel. Born in San Francisco, raised in a little green house in South Sacramento where the cold, foggy winters were warmed by family and friends and the hot summer days were cooled in our Doughboy pool. Creativity has always been a part of who I am. At a very young age I learned to sew and made clothing, dolls and lots of costumes. I’ve loved Photography for years, capturing that moment in time. I had a small photo business in the early 90’s called “Take a picture it will last longer” where I was privileged to photograph events, weddings, births and bands. I have been a contributing writer for newsletters, designed CD covers, flyers, cards and brochures. I learned to play the Piano as a child, Flute as a tween, Guitar and Keyboard as a teenager and am now taking Ukulele lessons!

My creative interests turned to painting a few years ago, just before my 50th birthday. I became overwhelmed with an urge to paint. I couldn’t help myself… I was obsessed and just had to paint! Typically using acrylics, my art is whimsical, very colorful, bold and fun. I am inspired by the magic and marvels of the natural world, the ocean, the moon, and also watching my husband make beautiful music. Images can be inspired by something small, an ordinary object, a shadow, a reflection, all spiced with my vibrant imagination and wacky sense of humor. Painting relaxes me, I lose track of time when at my easel pushing paint around a canvas… all the stresses of the day just wash away. I have enjoyed a rich and rewarding career for the State of California for the last 30 years, but look forward to retirement and my next career; living, loving, and creating my art for the world to enjoy.
Be well… Tj.
